Wormies is so cute! It's the kind of game you can sink an hour or two into without even realizing it.

Review

Wormies is a casual simulation/management game where you breed little creatures called "wormies" and sell them on the internet. The wormy creatures are clearly inspired by those silly little fluffy string worm toys from back in the day, and they're quite cute.

The wormies in this game enjoy a diet of entirely cookies, and they love to be cuddled, so I think it's safe to say this game is pretty cute and wholesome.

The wormies only breed when their happiness meter is full (from eating cookies) and the genetics system involved in breeding is actually really fun! Remember Horsey Game from a couple weeks ago? That one had a breeding mechanic as well, but Wormies' is way more fun. In this game, there's so many different types of wormies to buy and breed, it feels like there's always something exciting around the corner and I love trying to make new combinations.

The game is really well balanced, too. The progression felt good and I enjoyed the way the new orders coming in pushed me to build my wormy army and discover new breeds.

Lastly, there's some very sweet stories that play out through your interactions with customers. If you make them happy they'll keep coming back to order more wormies, and you get to see their story unfold. My favourite so far was the teacher who bought wormies for her class.

Overall this game is super wholesome and definitely worth the 1.5 hours I put into it in my opinion, though I'm not sure Sasha agrees ;P

Final Thoughts

Try out Wormies if you like cute games made by sincere people looking to tell a fun story! It's only $12 CAD and totally adorable :)
