Review

Sasha here! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This was an absolute masterpiece of a Bitsy game. You play a person and their dog as you survive in a desolate world. The game never really explicitly tells us what happened to the world. That's not important. What truly matters is the relationship between the two protagonists. A person and their dog.

The game is impactful even in it's low resolution and the gameplay is fairly simple, but I found myself feeling the emotions I might feel in a AAA game with fully animated cutscenes. It might sound like I'm over exaggerating but there's a mysterious power to low resolution that lets your imagination paint that picture for you.

Music & Narrative

The music was one of the few elements that wasn't "low res". Despite it's high quality it didn't contrast or stand out. It didn't conflict with the game's pixely form. It's a great example of how powerful and influential music is on us while we consume media. It mixed with the narrative, simply written, supported the climax of the game, presented to us in a series of low resolution art pieces.

Guided by well written dialogue, the music informs us how to feel, and through it's pixel art our imagination is free to expound on our own discovery of emotion.

Final Thoughts

The game is free to play on itch.

It's short, emotional, and impactful; a dog and their person.

Coming Up...

Annie will be covering a very special game this Friday. A game developed by a friend of ours! Annie has shared with me that she's been really enjoying it and has a bunch of things she wants to write about. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what she has to say. :)

Talk soon,
