Sasha here! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Created first for Magical Girl Game Jam and then improved/altered for Metroidvania Month, the mix of themes resulted in a captivating amalgamation of story and character design.

Things I liked:

  • The General: The character is just silly and brings a light humour to the otherwise serious feeling other parts of the game express; he's a cat.
  • The Colours: One of the things that assist in conveying the 'serious' military aspect of the game. It's not complex but fits well with the world the story takes place in. Especially with the greenish tinge and browns.
  • Level Design: For a Game Jam game the level design never felt too linear. It gave me space to explore in a way that didn't feel like I was being guided. The game is small so it did a good job despite the limited scope.
  • Magical Girls: I really enjoyed how the magical girl theme was integrated into this game. They're mixed in with cornerstone Metroidvania gameplay elements. Play for yourself to see how the blend of Metroidvania and magical girl go so well together. I mean... is Samus Aran not a magical girl?

Final Thoughts

If you like stealth mission games and/or Metroidvanias then this is likely something you might want to check out. I completed it in just under 30 minutes and it's free on Itch.

I would definitely play a full version of a game based on the mix of magical girls and espionage.
