Peaches Interplanetary

ยป Visual Novel | Pixel | Cute

Peaches Interplanetary is a short relaxing game about growing peaches on a spaceship. Explore the ship, talk to trees, drink some tea or coffee, and help Margot prepare for her first day spreading the power of peaches throughout the stars.

Review

Sasha here! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Peaches Interplanetary is a cute pixel art visual novel. Margot, a girl with a bob cut dyed like a peach, is out in space alone. Sort of, she has a UFO-Robot-Cat companion named Cherry (who pilots the ship). Most of the dialogue is between these two characters, although you can spend time interacting with various objects... or talking with peach trees.

The game gives off a calming vibe. Yet the writing gave away pretty clearly that a major event in Margot's life was underway. The combination of the two sort gave me that sensation you might get when you know something big has happened but you don't feel like you've fully processed it yet. A sort of disconnect between your logical self and emotional self. I think this effect lent itself well to the story. Yet, I do feel the music likely had the largest effect on how I felt. It's hard for me not to feel anything when Clair de Lune and other classical piano pieces are playing. I'd say that the text simply influenced, or contextualized, the feelings from the music.

Crashes

A small disclaimer. The game crashed at the "Thanks for Playing" screen immediately after the final song finished playing. An error window popped up with an array indexed out bounds exception.. or something similar. My best guess was that it tried playing a song when there wasn't any "next song" to play.

None of the Steam reviews mention this crash so I'm assuming that this bug only effects the "Thanks for Playing" screen. Hopefully if you're interested in this game you won't encounter the same bug.

(I sat and waited on purpose to see what would happen after the music finished playing... which to me feels like a normal thing to do but then again I'm the type of person who will sit through the credits at the movie theatre knowing there isn't anything after them)

Final Thoughts

Overall I thought the game was cute. It's short, sweet, and has it's adorable little character moments.

I played through the story in 45 minutes. Whether or not that's worth the $1.29 CAD, you decide. Maybe throw it in the cart the next time you buy a $60 game to support a small creative :P
