The TV turns on letting out an annoying static noise.

Sasha here! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Oups, looks like another creepy game! This one's a real short one I found on itch.

Made for the GameDev.tv Halloween Jam this game was built around a visual theme. I personally hadn't ever heard of visual themes before and found it quite interesting. If you're also not aware, it's when you use an image to evoke a feeling/sensation and jam participants create a game themed around that instead of a word or phrase.

The particular theme here was essentially a TV playing static in a completely blacked out room. Spooky!

This game killed the theme, ranking #1 in the jam for that category!

The music definitely accentuated the one key moment that pushed the game into its first place ranking. It had me feeling inspired and fascinated by the emotional power such a simple shift in musical tone can have. It felt like a solid resolution to the growing mystery. Yet it left me with feelings that raised other questions about the main character, ones that I'm not even sure the game was trying to ask.

You play as Amandor, a father and husband searching his house for his family. Throughout the short experience you start to wonder who you really are. I would say it's not very spooky compared to some of the previous games I covered... more creepy... but overall it's a good little experience and I feel it's well polished for a jam game.

    Final Thoughts

The game's not too scary. I'd actually say it's not scary at all. It's more about the creepy mystery than it is about trying to scare you. So if you like short narrative games with puzzles... or games with a retro PC adventure vibe then I'd fully recommend you check it out.

It's free to play and you can finish it in about 10-15 minutes.

    Coming Up...

    Friday is Halloween!

Annie's looking forward to sharing something Halloweeny with all of you then. I hope it's super ~spoooooky! ๐Ÿ‘ป
