Review
Sasha here 👋
This definitely isn't an itch game nor an action-packed game like Annie may have suggested I'd cover in the last newsletter.
It's a game shared with us by our friend Tak! I felt it was waaaay more fitting for the newsletter than what I had lined up.
The game is at it's core a simple fetch quest game. You talk to NPCs and deliver messages. That's it.
The world however is very neatly crafted and visually distinct from other games. It has this sort of lo-fi chill vibe with a well balanced toon visual style complimented by calming music.
The game made me feel relaxed. It's a holiday as I write this and that's something I can't stress enough as something I needed.
The World
It's small but feels large. I think this is aided by the curvature of the world. It always feels like you're in a set location. You can walk 25 feet in a single direction and the place you just were is no longer visible; hidden behind the horizon. It sort of makes each area of the map feel disconnected, disjointed, or further away from each other than they really are. Yet it's a continuous world.
If you've played Animal Crossing. It's that effect where the horizon curves down in the distance.. except in this game it's more exaggerated and curving away from you in all directions.
It's an interesting effect. It made learning to navigate the world a little more difficult but made it slightly more rewarding when you made the connection between one area and another.
Multiplayer
Surprisingly this game has built in multiplayer. It's just an open lobby where you can interact with strangers using emojiis, chase each other, and.. maybe play hide and seek?
There is no session management UI so I can't say if you'll find yourself in the same session as a friend if you try to hop on the game together. I highly doubt it's a single session. So you're likely rolling the dice to see if you find yourself in the same session.
If you try this out let us know!
Final Thoughts
Even though I've 100%'d the game (it's not that hard.. maybe like 20-30 minutes) I'd pull this up again and just wander around, emote to players, and just chill I think.
Tak said it's a nice coffee break game and I totally agree. So if you're having coffee right now you should check it out!
