Review

Annie here :)

I love Easy Delivery Co. I set out to play it for only 45 minutes to write this review but I ended up playing for way longer and now I'm rushing to finish this review so I can eat dinner.

This game has impeccable vibes, a beautiful soundscape, and a genuinely satisfying gameplay loop that balances suspense and relaxation perfectly

Setting

You are a delivery driver picking up odd jobs in a remote mountain town. It's freezing, the roads are icy, and the town seems dead; but as you speak to the residents inside, the world begins to feel colourful and lived-in despite its despondent low-poly state.

Gameplay

You complete delivery jobs for pay based on the job's distance and the payload weight. Some jobs require you to drive only a few blocks while others have you trekking up or down treacherous mountain passes with no fuel or warmth in sight. Each of the clients you speak to shares a bit about themselves, whether you like it or not.

Along the way, you're given "goals," these are like quests. They encourage you to advance the game rather than just doing jobs over and over again for no reason.

I really loved the way the goals made me curious about what would happen next, and encouraged me to keep playing the game in a natural way rather than trying to experience everything right away.

Appearance

I love everything about the way this game looks, sounds, and feels.

First, the UI is iconic. It has that VHS look to it while still being clearly understandable and fun to use. The characters and environment also perfectly fit the low-poly PS1-style aesthetic without feeling distinctly "retro" or "old." It feels almost like its own world.

I love the audio as well. The soundscape is beautiful and relaxing while also regularly reminding me that I could freeze to death or fall off a mountain at any moment if I'm not careful. The UI and interaction sounds are satisfying as well, I never felt myself being annoyed at having to use the UI.

Easy Delivery Co also has excellent game feel. I was able to use the controls without any tutorial because they introduce just enough information at a time. It's also easy to tell, based on subtle cues, when my truck is losing traction or my character is freezing. It's polished as heck.

Final Thoughts

I could write about this game forever, but you'd get a better picture if you just play it! It's available on Steam for just $16.49, a very fair price if you ask me. I've loved it so far and I'm only about 10% in.

Coming Up...

Did you catch that we missed this week's Tuesday edition? Hopefully not! If you did, we'll make it up to you next week with a new game from Itch.io. I wonder if it'll be as good as this one??

See you then,
Annie
