Review
Hey, it's Annie again!
Fresh off the boat (plane) from Europe, I jumped into the free demo for Is This Seat Taken? and had a blast! It's a simple but super fun and highly polished puzzle game with a sweet, subtle story.
Gameplay
In Is This Seat Taken, you have to account for the particular requests of several characters as you find a seating arrangement to suit all of them. It's a simple concept that's easily expanded upon through many levels in different settings and scenarios.
I especially loved the characters who "forgot to shower" with their cute little grins and wafting black clouds. So innocent! As long as you don't seat them next to someone who hates bad smells...
All in all I thought the gameplay was brilliantly executed, I only wished there were some more difficult levels. Some real head scratchers. But I only played the demo! Maybe the full game has what I'm looking for.
Story
Unexpectedly, Is This Seat Taken? has a very sweet story threaded through its levels. Nat, a rhombus-shaped actor, has big dreams of the big screen, but worries they don't have a shot. That is, until they see their doppelgänger in a movie, sending them on a quest to find their new hero! The demo only gives you a sneak peek of the story, but I'd love to see what's next in store for our angular friend!
Final Thoughts
If you like any sort of puzzle, I'd give the demo a shot. The tutorial is quick and easy to pick up, and the game is super fun!
The demo for Is This Seat Taken? is free on steam and the full game is out now!
