Cast n Chill is a cozy idle (and active) fishing game where you explore serene lakes, rivers, and oceans. Catch rare fish, upgrade your gear and reel in legendary catches - all with your loyal companion by your side.

Review

Sasha here! 👋

I absolutely loved this game. What drew me to it initially was the beautiful pixel art. I stayed for the atmosphere.

Right from the start, Cast n Chill softly guides you through selecting your appearance, your dog, and catching your first fish. All of this with little text and visual distractions. I never felt rushed to do anything.

The game highly prioritizes vibes and atmosphere, capturing the idyllic essence of fishing.

Idle Mode

If you want, you can put the game in idle mode and it will start casting and reeling in those fish on its own. Every once in a while you can check in and upgrade your equipment with your earned passive fishing income.

I'm actually playing in idle mode as I write this.

Active Mode

If you prefer to actually play your games, you can play Cast n Chill in active mode as well. It's still super chill because it uses a buttonless HUD, something I've never seen before. To access your menus, you click the various corners of the screen. The icons for what you're clicking appear when you hover.

You'll enter active mode to manage your upgrades, but you can switch back to idle whenever you want.

Can I Pet the Dog?

Yes. Obviously an important detail.

Final Thoughts

So, is this game for you?

If you're a fan of idle games or fishing then I really think it's worth checking out. I found it a pretty fun experience having it run in the background while getting some weekend work done. The visuals aren't too distracting that I'm honestly considering just leaving it in the background through out the week. It's definitely a chill game.

Next Wednesday

Annie will be taking the reins this coming Wednesday. She'll be sharing with you a silly little game on itch, recommended to us by our friends at Flightyfelon Games. We thought it was cute and think you might too.
