Review
Sasha here! ๐
This game is about accessibility. It's unconventional control scheme demonstrates the importance of accessibility features in games. At the surface it's a basic 2D platformer game, but it's really more puzzle-like once you figure out how you're intended to play.
You discover very quickly that the game is too difficult due to the controls. You can't play it like you would a regular platformer. You're stuck to pressing only a single button at a time.
All the basic platformer things you know how to do are out the window. You have to re-learn them from scratch using the in-game accessibility features. This ultimately changes the play style of the game.
What's better? Not including accessibility features or including them and ultimately creating an entirely different experience?
Developer Commentary
I haven't seen many games that do developer commentary, nevermind smaller indie games on itch. I really like the idea though. I'll be honest, I didn't listen to all of it, but that's mostly because I didn't want to play through the entire game again to listen to the commentary throughout the level.
This has me wondering though, why don't more games do this? I'd assume it's because it's not a very in-demand feature; a relic of a long gone DVD era.
Final Thoughts
The game's free to play on itch, takes about 10-20 minutes, and has 30+ minutes of developer commentary. If you're into games that are thought provoking and approach genres from a unique angle then I'd definitely recommend checking this one out.
