PLAY BEETLEBALL WITH YOUR FRIENDS. Review
I was having a hard time finding a game for this week, but then a friend of the studio swooped in and saved me with BEETLEBALL.
Beetleball is basically Rocket League but you're bugs. It's just SO. MUCH. FUN.
The main difference from Rocket League is that there's multiple balls in play. You have to merge dungballs to create a golden dungball, and only a golden dungball can store. During the match, big white rabbits jump around dropping lil' poops, and you can chase them down or just try and steal the ball from other players. I love this aspect because it provides a couple different ways to play.
Speaking of different ways to play, theres a ton of different beetles to choose from that have different abilities. Some of the abilities are annoying and disruptive, some are super specific and hard to use. My favourite is the Ladybug because it's easy to learn, and you can go really fast if you use it right. I tend to use an evasive playstyle, avoiding other players and scoring surprise goals as much as possible. (Note how this playstyle wouldn't be possible in a game with only one ball!)
The game has a tutorial that goes over every tool in your arsenal, as well as helpful techniques. It even lets you try out the different beetle types. You can earn coins from playing games or completing the tutorial, and you can use those coins for a gacha system that lets you earn cool hats and skins.
Beetleball is really easy to pick up and the games are not long, so I highly recommend trying it at home. A friend to play with is optional.
Final Thoughts
Beetleball is currently in development and the developers would love as many wishlists as they can get. They also have a bunch of social media pages where you can share your thoughts if you like. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First you have to try it out!
