Review
Sasha here! 👋
I got sucked into this one. Had to tear myself away once I got 100%.
It's cute, it's short, it's satisfying. Perfect for a lazy Friday evening.
I haven't played Wario Ware or Rhythm Heaven, but I would assume it plays very much like it. The game does a great job at introducing you to each rhythm segment with a tutorial to make sure you understand what's going on... although, there were one or two times I just couldn't get the inputs right and the tutorial took longer than the actual song. 😑
Once I got through the game I had fun replaying levels and working on trying to get the best scores possible. Some levels are HARD while some I felt were a little boring and not worth the time I'd have to sit through to get a better score.
Conveniently, the game doesn't lock progression behind your skill level. There wasn't a single time I had to replay a level because I did bad... I feel like this was a smart choice for this game. Needing to replay a level would have felt incompatible with the casual vibe of the game! (Thank goodness too, because there's one submarine level that I was terrible at 😰)
Music
The music is all original to the game; It's synth-poppy, cute, and very fun. :)
Story
Expect storytelling similar to Puyo Puyo games. Light, brief, and mostly only exists to add a hint of flavour that tie the levels together. It's cute though, and I did enjoy it. It was the right amount for what the game is.
Post Story
After the main story a few features get unlocked, including a song playtest menu, a quick level select, and a few other fun things. These extra things definitely pushed the game into the "recommended" category.
Final Thoughts
This game is for you if you like cute things, rhythm games, and relaxing experiences.
I wouldn't recommend this game if you want a challenge. Some of the levels after the main story are a little tricky and could satisfy you, but getting to that point might not feel worth it.
It's currently $20.79 CAD on Steam. My suggestion is to wait for a sale if you're interested in this game... but I felt I got my money's worth out of it; especially after playing some of the content after the main story. :)
It took me 2½ hours to complete the main story.
