Review

Annie's back again :P

Okay you guys have to hear me out on this one. Taking My Dark Knight Girlfriend to the Corner Store is a genuinely sweet, well-written, highly polished little visual novel. It only takes about an hour to play if you read everything, and the ending is super sweet. (Unless you get the "bad" ending!)

Story

The story in Dark Knight Girlfriend is simple, but it's fleshed out colourfully and managed to get me feeling attached to the characters in just the short time that I played it. There's enough choices to keep you engaged, which can be really rare for visual novels like this.

There's some deeper moments and some truly hilarious ones. This game juggles tone beautifully. I won't say too much because I want you to play it!

Art

The story is supported by some lovely art. The characters' poses are always dynamic and exciting, and they show a great deal of mastery with perspective and anatomy. There's also plenty of lovely illustrations that set the mood for the story. I found myself thinking many of them would make great desktop backgrounds!

Sound

I wanted to give sound its own section because the soundscaping in Dark Knight Girlfriend is wonderful. I felt so immersed in every scene with my headphone volume cranked up. I honestly don't even remember if there was music, I just know that I felt myself disappearing into the setting. Now that's good sound design.

Final Thoughts

Dark Knight Girlfriend is a hilarious and heartwarming little adventure. For all the romance fans out there, don't pass this one up.

Coming Up...
